As part of Aviation Industry Expo, S.W.A.T. organized a Texas Hold-Em tournament as a scholarship fundraiser for AMTSociety. One by one, players were knocked out as the tournament progressed. Just after midnight, the final two players played their last hand to determine the grand prize winner. Here are the winners.

With the funds that AMTSociety raises, it presents two scholarships each year to financially assist those currently working toward their A&P certification as well as to assist those already certified in furthering their professional education and training. The two scholarships, the $1,000 William F. “Bill” O’Brien and $1,500 Charles E. Taylor scholarships, are named after two aircraft maintenance professionals who have spent their careers promoting and advancing the skilled craft of aircraft maintenance professionals.
AMTSociety was formed in 2005 as an affinity group by Aircraft Maintenance Technology to provide online certification testing and renewal programs and provide benefits and industry resources to members. It was made a full-fledged association in December 2006. Tom Hendershot was hired as the executive director in January 2007 and the board of directors was also formed. The AMTSociety board of directors includes Board Chair Peter Zeeb, Kevin D. Curry, Joe Escobar, Gary Goodpaster, Joe Hawkins, Stan Mackiewicz, Ken MacTiernan, George R. Miller Jr., and Greg Napert. AMTSociety has more than 30 corporate sponsors, 13 student chapters, three local chapters, and more than 3,000 members.
