NBAA 2006 Annual Conference Press Releases: A-K

NBAA Press Releases

Innotech's business boom has been attributed to the surging sales in Bombardier’s larger business jets. Innotech has been a preferred completion center for Bombardier since 1981.

In other announcements at NBAA, Innotech:

  • Hired Tim St. Germain as the vice president of the customer completion center. He was most recently the director of completions for Berletex.
  • Promoted Heather Simpson as the sales manager for the U.S. Northeast. She jointed Innotech in 1974.

L-3 Avionics Systems Unveils IrisTM Infrared Imaging System at NBAA

NBAA 2006 CONFERENCE, Orlando, FL, October 16, 2006 – L-3 Avionics Systems, a subsidiary of L-3 Communications Corporation, today introduced its forward-looking Infrared Imaging System named IRISTM. The company plans to certify the product aboard its King Air C-90 by the first quarter of 2007 with deliveries to customers shortly thereafter.

"In keeping with our heritage of making advanced products available for General Aviation (GA), L-3 Avionics Systems has taken enhanced vision system (EVS) technology developed for adjacent markets and made it affordable for GA," said President Adrienne Stevens. "We have been working closely with several OEMs in evaluating and integrating the system, and the OEMs have responded with significant interest and excitement."

The company also plans on offering the IRIS camera as an aftermarket system and has been in discussion with several key dealers to facilitate the process.

IRIS provides enhanced visibility of almost any object, and is especially valuable at night. As the human eye detects variations in color, the IRIS camera detects variations in heat. Originally developed for the military, this revolutionary flying system is now available for all types of aircraft. IRIS technology measures heat signatures and creates an electronic image of everything in view. A real-time, black and white image of people, animals, aircraft and terrain is displayed on a variety of compatible cockpit display systems and electronic flight bags. Because the system detects heat and not light, pilots flying IRIS equipped aircraft do not have problems with bright oncoming light, solar glare or the darkness of night.
