Dallas, Texas…September 3, 2008…BBA Aviation Engine Repair and Overhaul (ERO) has announced the appointment of Max Allen to the newly created position of Director, Continuous Improvement and Component Repair. Allen will coordinate all ERO component repair businesses – located at Lafayette, Dallas and Portsmouth – with the goals of optimizing work processes, reducing duplication of capability, developing new repairs and growing the business.
Allen will also lead a team of dedicated continuous improvement leaders at ERO’s major sites to build on existing “lean” activities by imbedding a framework for continuous improvement encompassing value stream mapping, root cause methodology, preventive maintenance, visual workplace, 6S, and metrics.
“Max has done an outstanding job of directing the Rolls-Royce Spey and Tay programs, bringing them to a higher level of efficiency, reducing turn times and achieving an enviable record of first pass test rates,” stated BBA Aviation ERO Senior Vice President of Business Operations, Nandu Madireddi. “He is ideally suited for this role both from an operational experience standpoint and by virtue of being a Six Sigma “black belt.” We know he will approach the CI and Component Repair functions with the same zeal as he has the Rolls-Royce program. Both are key areas of focus and are fundamental to our long term strategy.”
Allen joined BBA Aviation in 2004 as Director of Operations at the company’s Forest Park overhaul facility. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from the United States Naval Academy and a Master’s degree in Management. He is a Six Sigma certified Black Belt.
Stepping in as replacement for Allen as Program Director Spey and Tay will be Mike Snellgrove. Snellgrove has been Program Director for Pratt & Whitney legacy engines. John Fuchs, who has been Program Director for PW300 and PW500 Programs, will take the role of Program Director of Pratt & Whitney Products and be responsible for all Pratt & Whitney Canada programs (except PW100).
“We have cultivated a growing pool of technical and managerial talent in our company,” stated Madireddi. “Max, Mike and John are a testament to that talent, initiative and leadership. I am confident that, as they take on these new roles, they will continue to drive performance improvements and customer satisfaction with the same urgency they have displayed in the past.”
