AMTScholarship Program

The AMTScholarship awards are one way the AMTSociety is committed to help ensure that future aircraft maintenance technicians are recognized for their desire to enter into the skilled aircraft maintenance profession. The AMTScholarships were also created to financially assist those currently working towards their credentials to become certified aircraft maintenance professionals as well as assist those already certified in furthering their professional education and training.

Two AMTScholarship awards will be presented each year. The two AMTScholarships are named after individuals who have spent their professional careers in promoting and advancing the skilled craft of the AMT. The two awards are:

The Charles E. Taylor Award $1500.00
The William F. "Bill" O�Brien $1000.00

All AMTScholarship award applications will be reviewed by the AMTSociety Council Members and Executive Director. In the event that the Council Members are evenly split on two separate applicants the AMTSociety Executive Director will make the final decision on granting the award.

Applicants who are awarded an AMTScholarship award will be notified by April 30th by telephone and mail. Award winners will also be posted on the AMTSociety web site and mentioned in AMT Magazine. AMTScholarship awards will be sent directly to the successful applicants chosen FAR Part 147 aviation certified school or professional training provider.

AMTScholarship Criteria

Must be a U.S. Citizen.
Does not need to be an AMTSociety Member.
High school diploma or expected date of graduation. (Include name, location of school with proof of GPA)
If currently attending an FAR Part 147 accredited school, include name and location with proof of GPA.
A separate application for each AMTSociety Scholarship Award.
List applicable licenses or certificates.
List work experience(s): description & dates of employment.
List scholastic achievements/awards/leadership.
Letter of recommendation/reference. (Two each)
Name and location of FAR Part 147 accredited aviation school you wish AMTScholarship fund to be applied towards.
Essay: Typed or handwritten on whom you are and your interest in aviation plus your goals on how you will remain active in the aviation community and promote the craft of the AMT once you graduate.
Submit two copies of the necessary information to the AMTSociety Scholarships, 1233 Janesville Avenue, Fort Atkinson, WI 53538
All applicants should have their paperwork submitted no later than December 15 of each year.
